![]() ![]() | Coway factory in Yugu Completed in April 1994, Coway’s Yugu Factory was expanded in 1995. To make the factory the largest consumer electronics manufacturing site in the world, Coway started construction of a filter manufacturing plant on the Yugu Factory premises in October 1997. The filter production facility is a Programmable Logic Controller-based automated facility with annual production capacity of 1.44 million units. Coway is the largest indoor filter manufacturer not only in Korea, but also in the world. As of 2009, the Yugu Factory consists of nine water filtration device lines, four air purifier lines, nine filter lines and a carbon block line. The factory has a building area of 1,2859.98sqm and a floor area of 20,450.79sqm. The factory has an annual production capacity of 1.44 million water filtration device, 780,000 air purifiers and 16.2 million filters. Through efficient location of human resources, multi-functionality and focused production have been realized at the factory. Coway spares no efforts to enhance competitiveness at the factory, with an aim of achieving zero waste, defects and breakdowns, thereby improving productivity and quality and cutting coats. Through the introduction of a producer name attaching system that achieves zero-fault production renovation, and an Environmental R&D Center and WARC (Water Analysis & Research Center) that conduct various water inspection tests before products are put on the market, Coway guarantee that its products are of the highest quality. |
Incheon Factory The Incheon factory focuses on the production of electric home goods such as bidet, rice cookers, humidifier, vacuum cleaners and other product models. It is capable of producing 400,000 bidets, 600,000 electric pressure multi-cooker, 400,000 vacuum and 400,000 humidifier cleaners a year through its six production lines. Based on its technology and accumulated know-how, the Incheon factory will expand its product line to include other electric home appliances and well-being goods. |

Coway has established its first R&D center in 1993 before begins its fctory production in 1994. In December 2006, Coway firmed a partnership with Seoul National University, a top ranking university in Korea, to further develop technology driven products utilizing both industrial and academy knowledge.
The R&D Center with 6 stories above ground, 2 stories below and 12,208m2 in floor space is located within Seoul National University’s research district. To date, Coway is one of only three companies to have R&D facilities at the university follow by Samsung and SK Telecom.
Recognized as “Drinking Water
Quality Inspection Institution” Total of KRW 58 billion was invested for the R&D Center, which is equipped with 182 cutting-edge devices such as high-tech research facilities including Environmental Analysis Center appointed by Han River Basin Environmental Office as “Drinking Water Quality Inspection Institution” and certified as KOLAS international testing lab for water quality, 45 laboratories, a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) measurement chamber, a dead room for noise Measurement, and wind tunnel measuring equipment. R&D centre at Coway place priority on improving consumer convenience rather than improve profit of company.
